DEVOTIONAL GATHERINGS - Exploring the Sacred Word
Devotionals gatherings play an inspirational role in the life and soul of our community. They rekindle the spirit, strengthen bonds of friendship, and foster a greater sense of unity. They offer an occasion where each person can explore the Sacred Word in an atmosphere of reverence, and respect. The Sacred Books of all religions are honored and the people of all Faiths are welcome.

Devotionals are prepared with Bahá'í Writings, as well as scripture from other Faiths. The Sacred Word can be explored through music, chanting, dance, poetry, and other art forms.

They might focus on a particular theme or simply evolve spontaneously in an atmosphere created to nurture the spirit through prayer, meditation and reflection. They are often followed by refreshments and a social.

A Sample of Bahá'í Prayers

A Prayer for Children

O Thou kind Lord! These lovely children are the handiwork of the fingers of Thy might and the wondrous signs of Thy greatness. O God! Protect these children, graciously assist them to be educated and enable them to render service to the world of humanity. O God! These children are pearls, cause them to be nurtured within the shell of Thy loving-kindness. Thou art the Bountiful, the All-Loving.

A Prayer for Assistance

O Thou Whose face is the object of my adoration, Whose beauty is my sanctuary, Whose habitation is my goal, Whose praise is my hope, Whose providence is my companion, Whose love is the cause of my being, Whose mention is my solace, Whose nearness is my desire, Whose presence is my dearest wish and highest aspiration, I entreat Thee not to withhold from me the things Thou didst ordain for the chosen ones among Thy servants. Supply me, then, with the good of this world and of the next. Thou, truly, art the King of all men. There is no God but Thee, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.

A Prayer for Healing

Thy name is my healing, O my God, and remembrance of Thee is my remedy. Nearness to Thee is my hope, and love for Thee is my companion. Thy mercy to be is my healing and my succor in both this world and the world to come. Thou, verily, art the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

A Prayer for Unity

O Lord God! Make us as waves of the sea, as flowers of the garden, united, agreed through the bounties of Thy love. O Lord! Dilate the breasts through the signs of Thy oneness, and make all mankind as stars shining from the same height of glory, as perfect fruits growing upon Thy tree of life. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Self-Subsistent, the Giver, the Forgiving, the Pardoner, the Omniscient, the One Creator.
